Panda eyes: we all hate them. We know that getting enough sleep is key to staving off those dreaded dark eye circles, but then again we don’t exactly live in an ideal world in which we clock a full 8 hours of sleep every night.
While some resort to undereye creams or facials to get rid of dark eye circles – these are great options by the way –, if you find that those aren’t working for you, you might want to take it one notch up with gentle eye laser treatments.
Our signature Eye 2 Laser treatment reduces the appearance of pigmentation and manages the appearance of blood vessels, in turn reducing the appearance of dark eye circles.
Prior to your treatment, the skin underneath your eyes will be cleansed and a numbing cream will be applied to make your treatment as comfortable. The treatment, done by Dr Kok, might feel warm and slightly prickly, but largely tolerable and comfortable according to most of our patients. The treatment shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.
Still feeling squeamish about a laser going near your eyes? Don’t worry, we promise it’s not going anywhere near your eyeballs. During the procedure, metal eye shields will also be placed on your eyes to protect them.
On that note, another common problem that occurs alongside dark eye circles is undereye puffiness due to water retension. This can increase the pressure on the skin and the blood vessels below your eyes, in turn pushing blood vessels upwards closer to the skin’s surface, and making dark eye circles appear more prominent.
One way to combat mild undereye puffiness is through radiofrequency eye facials. Such facials help to reduce puffiness, while lifting and tightening the skin around the undereye area.
During such facials, the skin around your undereye area is thoroughly cleansed, following which a handheld device emitting radio waves is directed multiple times over your undereye area. You might experience a warm, soothing sensation around the treatment area – in fact, most of our patients actually fall asleep during this process!
