Acne – most of us have it, but many of us don’t know how to properly handle it. For those with acne-prone skin, having a good skincare routine is a good first step to fight acne growth, and lighten blemishes.
At LS Aesthetic Clinic, we offer a wide range of medical-grade skincare products not just for your daily skincare routine, but also to address any skin problems, such as acne.
We’ve also put together a comprehensive day and night skincare routine specially for those with acne-prone skin, along with tips on how to best take care of your skin!
DAY
- Scrub
- Using a facial scrub helps to gently remove dead skin cells on the outer surface layer of your skin.
- This prevents a buildup of dead skin cells, which can otherwise cause clogged pores, in turn trapping dirt and bacteria which can cause acne breakouts.
- If you prefer to exfoliate your skin at night, feel free to skip this step in the morning.
- Cleanser
- Use a facial cleanser to ensure that any remaining scrub particles are thoroughly removed.
- Given that acne-prone skin tends to be on the oily side, an astringent cleanser, such as our Acne Cleanser, is useful in removing excess sebum. Our Acne Cleanser has astringent properties, but is also specially formulated to ensure that it is not overly drying for skin.
- Toner
- For those with sensitive or normal skin, look for a gentle toner that softens and calms skin. Our Rosewater Toner has skin-replenishing ingredients that sooths and refreshes your face after cleansing.
- For those with very oily skin, the use of a toner with slightly higher astringent properties, such as our Toner A33, can help to further remove excess sebum.
- Eye Cream
- Always apply your eye cream before any other face creams, so that it can absorbed first before the application of other products.
- Acne Face Cream
- For those struggling to tackle comedones, whiteheads, and blackheads, using a face cream specially targeted for acne-prone skin can help to minimise acne growth and clear skin.
- Our Acne Face Cream contains the active ingredients zinc and niacinamide, both of which have anti-inflammatory effects, help to reduce sebum production, and reduce acne breakouts.
- Moisturiser
- Using a moisturiser ensures that your skin is kept hydrated. Opt for an oil-free moisturiser to ensure that your skin is adequately moisturised without making your skin even more oily.
- If your skin is on the dry side, you have the option of applying moisturiser first before acne face cream.
- Acne Spot Treatments/Acne Blemish Treatments
- Spot treatments specifically targets active acne lesions, helping them to subside more quickly.
- Acne blemish creams or gels can be applied to blemishes that previous acne breakouts have left behind, and can be highly useful in lightening unsightly blemishes.
- Sunblock
- Use an oil-free sunblock to prevent the clogging of your pores.
NIGHT

- Makeup Remover
- At LS Aesthetic Clinic, our Makeup Remover contains micellar water, which draws out dirt on your skin, including makeup, excess sebum, and grime, without stripping your skin of its natural oils and moisture.
- If you prefer the option of double cleansing, use an oil-based makeup remover first, before using a water-based makeup remover to ensure all traces of the oil-based makeup remover is cleansed.
- Cleanser
- Use a gentle, water-soluble cleanser to remove debris, oil, and any remaining makeup remover.
- Scrub
- At night, a facial scrub should be used after your facial cleanser to ensure that all makeup, dirt and debris accumulated from your daily activities are cleansed away before exfoliating. The general rule of thumb is to always exfoliate on clean skin!
- Gentle scrubs can be done daily, once a day, but for those with more sensitive skin, stick to exfoliating your skin twice a week.
- Facial Sheet Masks
- Facial sheet masks are a great way of restoring skin-loving ingredients to your skin. For those with acne-prone skin, look out for masks specially formulated for acne-prone skin, and avoid masks that have high alcohol content.
