Happy Lift: could this replace a surgical facelift?

When we think about a surgical facelift, we tend to think about the pain, the downtime, and the hospitalisation. And despite the ability of a surgical facelift to shave off years off one’s looks, the fear of such an invasive medical procedure can deter even the bravest of us.

Thankfully, with the introduction of non-surgical facelifts, such as the Happy Lift threadlift, such fears are becoming increasingly unnecessary.

What is a Happy Lift threadlift?

A Happy Lift threadlift is a non-surgical method of facial lifting, through the safe insertion of Happy Lift threads under the skin. The insertion of such threads provides additional support structures for facial tissues, preventing facial sagging.

What can a Happy Lift threadlift do for my skin?

A Happy Lift threadlift is best suited for those experiencing early signs of aging, such as mild sagging skin.

The benefits of a Happy Lift threadlift include:

  • Skin tightening and lifting
  • Sharper facial features e.g. a more defined jawline
  • Enhanced collagen production

The areas that can be treated by Happy Lift threads include:

  • Eyebrows
  • Mid-face (Cheeks)
  • Jaw
  • Neck
  • Forehead
  • Temple

How is a Happy Lift threadlift different from other threadlifts?

Unlike the traditional threads that are made of PDO/PLA, Happy Lift threads are made from poly-L-lactic acid and caprolactone (PCA) and have excellent biological tolerance.

Simply put in English, the PCA in Happy Lift threads are resorbable, non-permanent filaments that are extremely compatible with our bodies.

What happens during a Happy Lift procedure?

Prior to your Happy Lift procedure, an experienced therapist will apply a local anaesthetic to the treatment area.

Once the anaesthetic has set, Dr. Kok will begin the procedure by outlining the placement of the dissolvable threads in the treatment area, before advancing the threads across previously marked contours.

Most patients do not feel any pain due to the application of the local anaesthetic. You will most likely experience a slight pulling effect during the procedure.

Is it painful? Are there side effects?

Given the non-invasive nature of dissolvable threadlifts, side effects are minimal as compared to a surgical facelift. Patients might see light bruising and swelling that should subside over a few days.
