It’s your big day! And probably also the day you’d want to look your very best.
We’ve prepared a bridal beauty guide, ranging from facial treatments to hair care, and when you should be scheduling in these treatments before your big day. How high or low maintenance you want to be is entirely up to you, so feel free to pick out from the steps below what works for you!
But you want all in, here’s the plan:
8 MONTHS BEFORE:
Laser Hair Removal
If you have unwanted hair on your legs, forearms, underarms, or upper lip that you want to zap away, be sure to start early!
Laser hair removal is most permanent and effective when removing hairs at a specific growth phase – the “active” phase. Given that the hairs on our body all grow at different rates, and you’ll have to give at least 3 weeks in between hair removal sessions, you’ll need some time to fully remove any unwanted hair.
Visit Your Aesthetic Doctor
If you want professional help in achieving a glowing, radiant complexion for your big day, it’s best to visit an aesthetic doctor early! A good doctor can offer professional advice, advanced technologies, as well as medical-grade products to fix any acne, pigmentation, or other skin problems you might have.
Hydradermabrasion or microdermabrasion facials are great for exfoliating dead skin cells to reveal a smoother complexion, and hydradermabrasion has the added benefit of infusing active serums into your skin for that added glow!
Facials that offer mild enzyme peels are also a great way to get a smooth, radiant complexion without any downtime.
And what better way than a relaxing facial to do get rid of the wedding planning stress, are we right?
Start A Consistent Skincare Regimen
Consistency is key here! Remember to cleanse, tone, and moisturise every morning and night, and exfoliate a couple of times a week. If your doctor prescribes you a certain skincare regimen, be sure to follow that instead.
And always, always, remember to remove your makeup completely at the end of the day – no matter how late it is or how lazy you feel.
6 MONTHS BEFORE:
Dark Eye Rings Laser/Facial
If you want to get rid of your dark eye rings, either laser treatments or eye facials can be useful in reducing the appearance of unwanted panda eyes.
At LS Aesthetic Clinic, our signature eye laser treatment reduces the appearance of dark eye circles by removing unwanted pigment and lessening the appearance of blood vessels, both of which could contribute to dark eye circles.
On the other hand, our eye facials involve the targeted infusion of active serums with specialised machines, lightening and brightening your undereye area.
There needs to be about 2 weeks between each facial or laser treatment, so if your dark circles are something you want treated before your big day, remember to start as early as you can!
Start Exercise & Nutrition Regimen
We all want to look healthy and toned on our big day, not bony and weak! Enroll in a HIIT class, go for a run twice a week, or do home cardio workouts with the help of Youtube exercise videos – stay consistently active, and your body will shape up in no time!
But be sure to always listen to your body, and give yourself the rest you need.
Avoid crash-dieting too – that doesn’t work out in the long term.
Experiment with Hair Colour
Thinking about something new for your wedding? It’s best to test it out a couple of months before. If you don’t end up liking it, there’s still time to change it up.
Acne/Pigmentation Laser Treatments
If you’re looking to get rid of your acne or pigmentation woes with laser treatments, plan your laser treatment schedule with your doctor so that your skin will be prepped in time for your big day!
Laser treatments often have an additional positive effect of boosting collagen production and promoting the growth of new, healthy skin. These take time as these effects occur as part of your body’s natural processes – so planning and scheduling are key!
3 MONTHS BEFORE:
Now’s the time to start experimenting with different hair and makeup styles for your wedding!
Remember to bring along a couple of reference pictures too – “loose, wavy curls” can sometimes mean different things to different people! This is where Pinterest could come in handy. Bring along a picture of your wedding dress if you can – this could help your hairstylist and makeup artist visualise your look better.
If you want to perm or straighten your hair, now’s the time. Remember to schedule a touch-up session closer to your big day, just in case.
If you don’t quite trust yourself and your tweezers, schedule a trip to a professional. If you want to tint your brows, now’s a good time to try it too! (And not just before your wedding)
If you are looking to lift or tighten the skin on your face, Ultherapy or radiofrequency treatments might be for you. Think of them as non-surgical facelifts – these treatments use either ultrasound energy or radiofrequency to lift, tighten, and tone lax skin. And with no downtime!
Ultherapy also has the added benefit of stimulating the body’s natural collagen production, which contributes to that radiant glow every bride wants!
1 MONTH BEFORE:
Fillers are good for treating deep facial wrinkles, sunken forehead temples or cheeks, and for augmenting your cheeks, chin, or lips, should you wish to do so. The effect of a filler treatment is immediate with little to no downtime.
Anti-wrinkle injections can reduce any unwanted crow’s feet or frown lines, helping you look picture-perfect on your big day. Such injections generally last for a couple of months and it takes a couple of days for the anti-wrinkle effects to kick in, so schedule your appointment 1 month before.
If you are looking to achieve a V-shaped face for our wedding, botulinum toxin injections can help to give you a sharper jawline. Depending on your face shape, chin fillers can also be used to sharpen your chin, further enhancing the V-shaped face that you want.
1 WEEK BEFORE:
Schedule your final brow session, and resist overplucking with your tweezers!
Schedule your final facial – make sure it’s a gentle one! A soothing, hydrating facial works best to preserve and enhance a radiant complexion.
To prevent puffiness, especially on the face, cut down on salt as much as you can. Control your sugar intake too to prevent any potential skin problems or complications.
1 DAY BEFORE:
Request for a gel polish to prevent unsightly chips on your big day.
Pack Emergency Kit
Have a kit of supplies ready for any last-minute emergencies! Some supplies include: stain remover wipes, nail polish, cotton buds, bobby pins, and a sewing kit.
Sleep! & Hydrate!
Amidst all the last-minute planning, try to get some rest. This will best ensure that you are fresh and radiant the next day.
And… it’s your big day! This is going to be a day of beautiful memories – so relax and enjoy yourself!
