Been reading about “glass skin” – the new buzzword for clear, poreless, and luminous skin that is smooth to the touch – and wondering how to achieve it? For those who want to have a combination of lifting, hydration, and whitening, our new signature treatment BrightLift now makes this possible.

What is BrightLift?

BrightLift is essentially an injection treatment that contains both botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid – think of it as a combination of Dermalift and skin boosters.

The benefits of BrightLift are multifold:

  • Lifts mild sagging skin
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles without a “frozen” look
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Restores hydration to skin

How does it work?

BrightLift causes a contraction of your skin and stimulates your skin’s fibroblast cells to produce more collagen. All this results in a skin tightening and lifting effect!

What is the procedure like?

Prior to your procedure, our experienced therapists will help you apply a local anaesthetic to ensure that your procedure is as comfortable as possible.

Skin marking is then done with you seated in an upright position, to allow Dr. Kok to identify areas that require tightening, before he begins the procedure.

BrightLift will then be injected just under the skin through a series of microinjections.

The entire process should take about 30 minutes.

Does it hurt? Is there downtime?

The series of microinjections will feel like tiny pricks on the skin, but the local anaesthetic applied prior to your treatment will reduce the prickly sensations you might feel.

There is minimal to no downtime expected with BrightLift: some might see minor injection marks, facial redness, or slight swelling, but this should subside within a few days.

An In-Depth Look at How Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work

It seems almost like magic – how wrinkles can seem to just disappear with a couple of injections.

But this is a field solidly backed by scientific research; such anti-wrinkle treatments also have the stamp of approval by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

We take an in-depth look at how anti-wrinkle injections work and the science behind them:

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

These are made from botulinum toxin, a type of neurotoxic protein that is commonly used in medicine to treat cerebral palsy. It is generally used in small, controlled doses to treat mild cosmetic concerns such as facial wrinkles.

How are wrinkles formed?

Facial wrinkles occur as a result of a combination of a few factors:

  • Reduced collagen formation
  • Thinning skin
  • Environmental factors (e.g. overexposure to the sun's UV rays)
  • Lifestyle factors (e.g. smoking)

All these combine to result in a weakened support structure for our skin, causing it to sag and causing wrinkles to appear.

How do these injections work?

Such anti-wrinkle injections are injected directly into your facial muscles, causing it to relax temporarily, in turn preventing the formation of facial wrinkles.

What essentially happens is that the botulinum toxin prevents signals from the nerve cells from reaching the muscles. In order for our facial muscles to contract, our nerves release a chemical known as acetylcholine, which attaches to receptors on the muscle cells, causing them to shorten.

This reduction in muscle contractions allows facial muscles to relax, in turn reducing facial wrinkles.

What happens during these injections?

The anti-wrinkle injection is generally administered to the upper face area, where most wrinkles tend to surface. Possible injection areas include the chin, forehead, crow’s feet, or glabella lines (i.e. the short vertical lines in between your eyebrows).

The anti-wrinkle injection will be administered in a few tiny injections to your desired treatment area. For added comfort during the procedure, Dr. Kok will use an ice pack to numb the treatment area. Most patients find the procedure very tolerable, saying that the injections feel like minor ant bites.

For patients who are still concerned about potential discomfort, a local anaesthetic can be applied to further numb the treatment area.

Souleve Collagen Supplements: How They Slow Down The Natural Aging Process

Collagen is often touted as the magical elixir of youth, and rightfully so – it plays a significant role in helping our skin appear smooth and supple.

Our skin is essentially supported by a dense network of collagen fibres, like how pillars support the roof of a house. These “pillars” help to keep our skin taut and essentially, youthful.

But as we age, free radicals from pollution, and UV rays due to sun exposure cause oxidative stress to our bodies. As a result, the collagen fibres in our bodies weaken, resulting in a loss of density and organisation of collagen fibres. This causes the structural framework of our skin to weaken, causing our skin to lose its suppleness and start to sag while giving rise to the appearance of wrinkles.

While we cannot prevent the natural process of aging from occurring entirely, we can always slow down the aging process with a boost or two, one way being in the form of Souleve collagen supplements.

Souleve collagen supplements contain 3 key active ingredients that help to promote collagen production and combat free radical damage:

1. Type I Collagen

While there are many different types of collagen, type I collagen comprises 90% of collagen found in our skin, hair, nails, and ligaments, making it the most ideal type of collagen to consume for your skin.

Manufactured in France, Souleve’s patented Type I collagen contains a proprietary blend of collagen peptides derived from fish skin. Scientific studies have shown that Souleve’s collagen supplements can result in:

  • 20% improvement in facial skin firmness
  • 11% reduction in wrinkle appearance around the periorbital region (eye area)
  • > 90% user satisfaction regarding skin improvement

2. Blueberry Extract

Blueberry extracts are known to contain 1% anthocyanins, which are known to inhibit collagen degradation and protect against inflammatory responses that cause photo-aging.

3. Vitamin C

Apart from enhancing our bodies’ immune systems, Vitamin C is also crucial for collagen production and stabilising the collagen structures in our bodies. Vitamin C’s also good for reducing photoaging of our skin!

When taken together, this trio of active ingredients found in Souleve collagen supplements can help to reduce the appearance of aging and promote the growth of younger, firmer skin.
