What are spider veins?
Spider veins – medically known as telangiectasia – small blood vessels that appear on the face. They are usually irregular in shape and appear as thin fine lines, about 1 mm in diameter, resembling that of a spider’s web.
While spider veins are not a threat to one’s health in any way, they can be aesthetically unsightly for some.
What causes spider veins?
While spider veins can be a result of poor blood circulation, they can also be caused by other factors, such as genetics, alcohol consumption, acne or over-exposure to the sun. Facial veins are also commonly associated with rosacea, a long-term skin condition that often results in facial redness and dilated facial blood vessels.
How can I treat spider veins?
At LS Aesthetic, we offer a number of treatments:
Laser treatments: The most common and effective method to treat unsightly facial veins is with laser treatments. Our Excel V laser is an excellent treatment for this condition. Infrared lasers are also effective in reducing the appearance of varicose veins over a span of treatment sessions.
Topical applications: Following the treatments above, Dr. Kok will also prescribe relevant medications to prevent the recurrence of your vein condition and reduce any remaining marks.
